Primary mission objectives were the deployment of the Laser Geodynamic Satellite II and the operation of the U.S. Microgravity Payload-1, which consisted of three experiments mounted on support structures in the cargo bay. Secondary payloads included a wide variety of experiments and testing equipment. !
